These terms cover your use of TellyPrompter at tellyprompter.com. TellyPrompter is provided by LEGAL ENTITY NAME of REGISTERED ADDRESS (“we”). Using the site means you accept them.
What you get
The prompter is free, with no account needed. You can paste a script, read from it, record video, and keep a library of scripts on your device, for nothing, and we intend to keep it that way.
Pro is a paid plan that adds a synced script library across your devices, a larger library, and additional Google Docs handling. It costs £7 a month, £40 a year, or £99 as a single payment. Prices include any VAT where it applies.
“For as long as TellyPrompter runs”
The single payment option is described that way rather than as “lifetime” deliberately, and we mean it literally: it grants Pro for as long as we operate the service. It is not a promise that the service will exist forever, because that is not a promise anyone can keep. If we ever discontinue TellyPrompter we will give you at least NOTICE PERIOD — 90 days is a reasonable choice notice, and you will be able to export everything you have throughout.
Your scripts are yours
You keep every right in the scripts you write and the recordings you make. We claim no licence over them and no ownership of them. We use them only to provide the service — which, on Pro, means storing them so they sync between your devices.
You can download all of your scripts at any time, on any plan, including with no account at all, using the Export button in your library.
Your account
Signing in is by a code sent to your email address, so keeping access to that inbox is what keeps your account secure. Tell us if you think somebody else has got into it. One account is for one person.
Paying
Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price for your plan until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time — see Refunds and cancellation. If a payment fails we may suspend Pro features until it succeeds; your scripts remain readable and exportable throughout.
If we change the price, existing subscribers keep their current price until we tell them otherwise, with at least 30 days' notice before any change takes effect and a chance to cancel first.
What we do not promise
We will try to keep the service running and working, but we do not guarantee it will be available without interruption or free of faults. Speech recognition in particular is performed by your browser rather than by us, and its accuracy varies by browser, language, microphone and room. Firefox does not implement it at all. None of that is within our control, and none of it is a defect in the service.
The prompter is a tool you use while performing. Check your recordings.
Acceptable use
Do not use TellyPrompter to break the law, and do not attempt to disrupt it, gain access to accounts that are not yours, or resell access to it. We may suspend or close an account that does. If we close your account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the unused part of anything you have paid.
Our liability
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, and because this is a tool provided at a low price, our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for lost recordings, missed takes, lost profit or lost opportunity.
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights that these terms do not affect.
The software itself
UNRESOLVED — see TEL-1. TellyPrompter's client is derived from GPL-3.0 licensed software. The licence position for the hosted service, and the attribution owed to the original author, must be settled and stated here before these terms are published.
Changes, and the law that applies
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you as a paying customer we will tell you by email before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — though if you are a consumer elsewhere in the UK you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
