Most of what people write in about has a short answer, so the short answers are first. If yours is not here, write to us — there is no ticket portal to sign into and no form that swallows your message.
Recording and reading
The prompter will not follow my voice
Voice-following uses your browser's speech recognition, which not every browser has. Firefox is the common case. TellyPrompter says so in a line under the script box rather than blocking you, because two of the three scrolling modes still work: it can follow the sound of your voice, or scroll at a steady pace you set.
If your browser does have it and nothing happens, check two things: that the microphone permission is allowed for this site — your browser shows this in the address bar — and that the right microphone is selected under Settings → Devices. A headset plugged in after the page loaded is the usual culprit.
It follows me, then stops partway through
Following stalls when what it hears stops resembling what is written — a skipped line, an ad-lib, a long pause mid-sentence. It is built to find you again on its own, and usually does within a few words.
If it stalls in the same place every time, that is a bug rather than a bad take, and it is worth sending. The lines on either side of where it stopped are enough; you do not need to send the whole script.
Can I record while the prompter is running?
Yes, and on the free plan too. Recording is not a paid feature and nothing it produces carries a watermark.
Numbers and abbreviations trip it up
Spoken language does not map cleanly onto written figures — “2024” can be read four different ways, and units are worse. TellyPrompter handles many of these, and the list grows from real recordings that went wrong. If you hit one, send the line exactly as it is written and tell us how you said it aloud. That pair is the whole bug report.
Your library and your plan
I have hit five scripts
Five is the free plan's whole library — tagged scripts included, and the same five in the cloud. It is a hard stop rather than a rolling allowance, which is deliberate: nothing is deleted to make room for a sixth. Delete one you have finished with, or move to Pro for an unlimited library.
The prompter itself is not capped. Reading, recording and every scrolling mode work the same on either plan.
How do I cancel?
One click in the app. No email required, no retention offer, no attempt to talk you out of it. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for — cancelling does not cut you off that day.
Can I have a refund?
Within 30 days of paying, yes, without giving a reason, on the monthly plan, the yearly plan and the single payment alike. Write to contact@tellyprompter.com. We answer refund requests within two working days, and the money reaches your card five to ten working days after it is issued, depending on your bank. The refunds page has the full policy.
What happens to my scripts if Pro ends?
They stay readable and exportable, permanently. What lapsing takes away is the ability to add to the synced library, which becomes read-only. You never lose access to your own work.
That is enforced in the database rather than promised in a document: the rule granting read access deliberately does not check whether you have paid.
How do I get my scripts out?
Export, in your library. It downloads every script you have as plain text — on any plan, and with no account at all. There is no export tier and nothing is held back.
Your account and your data
My sign-in code has not arrived
Check spam first. Codes are sent from an address that does not accept replies, so replying to that email reaches nobody — write to contact@tellyprompter.com instead, from the address you are trying to sign in with.
I want my account deleted
You can do it yourself, in the app: open Settings and use Delete account. It removes your account, your cloud library and every earlier version of every script, and it cannot be undone. Scripts held on the device you are using stay where they are.
Export first if you want to keep anything.
What do you collect about me?
The privacy policy answers this properly, table by table, including what leaves the device and what does not. If something in it is unclear, that is worth telling us — an unclear privacy policy is a defect.
Write to us
Everything below goes to the same inbox. The subject lines are pre-filled only so a message lands in the right order of business — pick the closest one, or none at all.
What to put in the message
Enough that the first reply can be useful rather than a request for more detail:
- Which browser and which device — “Chrome on an M2 MacBook”, “Safari on an iPhone 15” — because most reading and recording problems are one or the other.
- What you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead.
- Whether it happens every time or happened once.
Do not send us a script you would not want read. For anything about voice-following, a line or two either side of where it went wrong tells us as much as the whole document does. Scripts are yours, and we would rather not hold a copy of one we do not need.
