What does a teleprompter that follows your voice do?
TellyPrompter listens through your microphone and moves the script to the words you are saying. The reading line stays on the word you have reached rather than scrolling at a speed you set in advance.
Pause, and it waits. Repeat a line, and it goes back to it. Skip to a line you have not reached yet, and it moves there.
Go off-script, and it waits until you come back to the words on the page, then finds your place again, usually within a few words.
Is it free?
TellyPrompter is free to use, with no account and nothing to download. Open tellyprompter.com/app/ in a browser, paste a script and start reading.
Recording is free too. It is not a paid feature, and nothing it produces carries a watermark.
Pro costs £7 a month, £40 a year or £99 once. It is for the cloud script library: a free account syncs up to five scripts between devices, and Pro syncs as many as you write. Recording is not behind it.
What does it need?
A microphone, and a browser with speech recognition. Chrome, Edge and Safari have speech recognition; Firefox does not.
Without it, TellyPrompter can still follow the sound of your voice, or scroll at a steady pace you set. Those two modes work in every browser.
It runs on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows, in the browser.
Where does your voice go?
We never receive your audio. TellyPrompter uses the speech recognition built into your browser and does not operate a speech service of its own, so no recording of your voice reaches us at any point.
Some browsers implement their speech API by sending audio to their own servers — Chrome's is documented as server-based, which is why dictation there does not work offline. Where your browser works that way, your voice reaches your browser vendor under their privacy policy rather than ours, and what they do with it is governed by their terms.
Which languages does it follow?
TellyPrompter recognises 34 languages. Twenty of them, English included, are detected from the text of your script; the other fourteen are chosen by hand from the language list.
The app's own interface is in English. There are separate pages on reading in Italian, Russian, Spanish, French and Korean.
