EAR PROMPTING FOR ACTORS
Get used to hearing
the words as you speak.
An ear prompter, also called an in-ear prompter, plays a recorded read through your earphones. You speak a little behind the recording. In TellyPrompter, you prepare that read from your script in Ear Studio, using your own voice.
Start with a short passage and leave some space around difficult names. Listening and speaking together takes practice. Give yourself a few goes.

can change how a line lands.
Keep the wording. Change the intention.
Try a warmer read of a commercial line, then a more matter-of-fact one. Listen for what changes.
Spend time on the awkward bit.
A product name you keep stumbling over. A sentence that runs long. Take that passage on its own and rehearse it again.

Is Ear Studio free?
Yes. Ear Studio, prompting, recording, review and original downloads are free, with no account required. Pro is for prepared editor exports. Compare the plans.
Can I use an iPhone or iPad?
Yes, through Safari. Allow microphone access and check your earphones before a full read. Android can’t make the read, and Firefox lacks the speech recognition it needs.
Do I need a special earpiece?
No dedicated prompter rig is needed to practise. Use earphones that work with your device, including the appropriate adapter. Wired earphones are a useful starting point. Check Bluetooth delay and reconnection before depending on it.
What happens when the script changes?
The recorded guide belongs to the script it was made from. If the spoken words change, the guide may no longer match. Return to Ear Studio and prepare an updated read before using the revised copy.
Where does my script and audio go?
The Ear prompting read is kept in this browser on this device. Optional account sync and recording storage are separate features. Browser speech recognition may send audio to the browser provider; it is not guaranteed to run entirely on-device. Read the privacy details before using confidential copy.
